198 The Városi-exhibition at the Vasarely Foundation in Aix-en-Provence and the international breakthrough promised by the Master never materialised, but back home, after the successful debut in Paris, I was looked at with disapproval – begins Gábor’s narrative of the disappointment he experienced at the time. The fact that I was living large from drawing tourist portraits in the street did not help either; I did not represent the usual depressed, misunderstood artist. It was clear that I was not going to be exhibiting as a visual artist any time soon, so I embarked on realizing a concept that had been maturing in me for some time: the creation of liveable, sculptural buildings. As the saying goes, where one door closes, another opens… It is important to emphasize that I am not an architect, but, following the guidance of my masters, Zoltán Tölg-Molnár and the Makovecz-pupil László Sáros, I was already immersed in the development of a habitable House-Sculpture at the time of the regime change.
