Gábor Városi - Stories, Artworks, Artistic periods

342 Art in the Metaverse Psychedelic Selfie NFT 2022 created by Gábor Városi There have been a few low points recently... – True, but look at where it has fallen from, the crypto money that was available for purchase for $0.001 when it was issued about ten years ago. Okay, right now it’s around 20,000 (19 July, 2022 - Ed.), but it also has been three times that price. So, how many thousand percent of an increase are we talking about? You say it’s bogus? No bigger than the money printing of central banks and the portfolios of commercial banks. But I am not a speculator, and I am not an economist either. I am fascinated by the processes, how out of nothing comes something, how one’s thoughts and strategic - if you like - programmes create value. Not only is the history of Bitcoin interesting, but there is also Ethereum - created by a 19-year-old Russian-Canadian genius, Vitalik Buterin. Faster, more efficient, more economical. And there are so many more exciting stories online! The world is changing - there are a lot of terrible things going on - but I try by nature to focus on the positive, forward-looking things. I believe that new technology will lead to a more fair and efficient world. Because I also see that the current - and here I mean: the old - system is destroying the planet and humanity. Ok, what is Gábor Városi doing in the Web3 world right now? – Learning. Listening. Experimenting with NFTs. In addition to the physical exhibition, we’re also working on a virtual exhibition - because how cool is it that people tens of thousands of kilometres away can see my stuff in 3D! By the way, I also joined a metaverse startup. Of course, I always have to explain what the metaverse is: it’s the next stage in the evolution of the internet, a second life for the user created in virtual space. Tech giants agree in this subject, that’s why Facebook has become Meta, and the reason they’ve already poured billions of dollars into development. Most people are expecting a video game where their avatar does all sorts of things – and they are not wrong, because you can work, have access to entertainment, consume culture - and to do that, you need tools and methods, to which I approach from an artistic not a business point of view. So, you’ll stop painting, sculpting, stop building houses, and just sit in front of the computer and move your little avatar? – No way! For me, it’s about connecting virtual reality with the physical. If my paintings and sculptures existed in traditional versions and in NFT format, if my houses were scanned as 3D sculptures on virtual sites and built in reality, this would open up a whole new world of possibilities. We are now working on a building project in Brazil, the concept of which is being considered accordingly. This is the future! – And it is up to us to make it not only new, but also beautiful.
